SafeNet Delivers Cloud-based Encryption to Amazon Web Services Customers

New Server- and Storage-based Encryption Helps Customers Meet PCI Compliance 2.0

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SafeNet, Inc. a global leader in information security, today announced that its server- and storage-based encryption will be available for the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and the Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC). SafeNet’s solutions provide a series of data security controls that can be implemented by customers to help meet compliance requirements, including the new Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) 2.0. These technologies include pre-launch authentication, storage encryption and key management for cloud environments.

“We’re pleased to help our joint customers take advantage of SafeNet’s data encryption and key management for their applications running in the scalable and dynamic AWS environment”

With SafeNet ProtectV™ server- and storage-based encryption, customers can encrypt compliance-impacted data running on Amazon EC2 and Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) volumes.

“We’re pleased to help our joint customers take advantage of SafeNet’s data encryption and key management for their applications running in the scalable and dynamic AWS environment,” said Terry Wise, Director of Business Development, Amazon Web Services LLC. “AWS provides businesses and developers around the world with highly reliable and secure technology infrastructure so they can instantly acquire compute power, storage, and other on-demand services in the cloud.”

SafeNet’s ProtectV™ Instance server-based encryption allows enterprises to manage a host of virtual services and control pre-launch authentication and authorization running in cloud environments. With SafeNet’s ProtectV™ Volumestorage-based encryption, customers can encrypt block-level storage volumes to safeguard compliance-impacted information such as PII or cardholder data.

“With cloud computing, security is a shared responsibility between the cloud provider and customers,” said Russ Dietz, CTO, SafeNet. “We’re excited to work with Amazon Web Services to help our customers safeguard and control data and user access in a provable, evidentiary manner in transit and at rest.”
